Training for overhead cranes
Overhead cranes are a type of hoisting and material handling equipment. They are made of a bridge and a lifting element. Transport of materials can take place vertically or horizontally and is limited by the size of individual elements. Overhead cranes can be used to move very heavy cargo. For that reason, they are used in industrial halls, in transport, and by the storage industry. The operation of overhead cranes is associated with a high risk of accidents at work, which is why the operator is not only required to receive health and safety training, but also training for overhead cranes of the appropriate category.
Overhead cranes operated from ground level
Our company offers two types of overhead crane courses. Training for overhead cranes operated from ground level (the most common) and for the second type of overhead crane, the so-called special, e.g., tong, batch, casting, or grab cranes. Without a UDT license, the operation of devices subject to UDT supervision is strictly prohibited. In the event that a UDT device is operated without a license, there will be serious legal consequences, not only for the employer but also for the plant management and the people who have decided to work without these licenses.
Categories of licenses for overhead crane operators
Anyone who has completed an overhead crane operator course and received a passing score on the UDT exam is eligible to become a crane operator. There are two categories of issued licenses:
There are two types of overhead crane operator categories: special-purpose overhead cranes (formerly 1S) and general-purpose overhead cranes (formerly 2S). The 1S category crane operator license is the highest possible level of crane license. A 1S license permits an operator to operate any type of crane, while a 2S license only authorizes the operation of cranes from ground level.
Exam after completing the course for overhead cranes
Authorization to operate overhead cranes is required by the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT). The UDT conducts an examination after completing the course and issues an appropriate UDT license certificate to operate a given device. The license is in the form of a plastic identification card. You must complete the course in order to take the exam. We organize professional crane training for people who want to obtain one of the two categories of licenses. Both courses are carried out in the form of theoretical and practical classes. We place great emphasis on skills, which is why the practical part of the training takes place under the supervision of experienced instructors. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the detailed offer of training for overhead cranes.
